The department of fisheries launched a portal on Tuesday for making online applications on various matters under the PM Matsya Sampada Scheme, Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme, Samuhik Durghatna Bima Scheme and Matsya Palak Kalyan Kosh Yojana.

The department said that under the PM Matya Sampada Scheme, applications for 30 schemes are being invited between May 30 and June 15. Under this scheme, there is a proposal to build an ultra modern fish market in Gorakhpur and Moradabad districts this financial year. The cost of this project has been estimated at Rs 60 crore.

There is another proposal to make an integrated aquapark in Gorakhpur and Mathura in this financial year, the estimated cost of which is Rs 100 crore. Since the scheme started, grants of Rs 190 crore have been given to beneficiaries. Till now, 6,904 projects worth Rs 332 crore have been completed while 11,513 projects worth Rs 321 crore are underway. Under the river ranching programme, 1.9 crore large fish eggs were released into the Ganga as a means to protect fish. The project costs the department Rs 4.9 crore, officials said.

Under the Samuhik Durghatna Bima Scheme, over one lakh fishermen have been benefited while under the CM Matsya Sampada Scheme, Rs 8.5 crore as grant has been given to 648 beneficiaries. A budget of Rs 10 crore has been allocated under the scheme in 2023-24. Another Rs 25 crore has been set aside for the UP Matsya Palak Kalyan Kosh for 2023-24. An official said that during the global investors summit, 60 investors pledged Rs 714.2 crore for the sector and the department signed MoUs worth Rs 686.9 crore with 53 investors.
