Thanking the government for giving him the opportunity, Pele urged the union minister for fisheries to give serious thoughts in resolving the issues of the fishing community in Goa.

Few of the issues raised by him included to legalize houses of traditional fishing communities which are in danger because of CRZ regulations.

Pele told O Heraldo said that he requested the union government to help the fishing community in legalising the houses and permit them in start local businesses at the seashore.

Pele, who has his tag line; ‘every day is a good day’, was a lucky guy to be invited at the Red Fort, in New Delhi to represent the fishing community on one of the most important days; Independence Day.

“We feel great to represent the fishing community at New Delhi. I feel very proud for having been selected as one of the traditional fishermen for the event,” he stated.

It may be recalled that Pele shot to fame the world over after  since he got the opportunity to explain the traditional fishing methods to world greatest cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, besides UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s wife Akashata Murti, wherein the videos had gone viral on social media.

“I have urged the union minister to take care of all the traditional fishermen in the country including Goa who are facing lots of hardships pertaining to survival and regulations under CRZ norms,” said Pele
