The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for three districts in Kerala—Ernakulam, Idukki, and Malappuram—due to the threat of heavy rains in the state. The alert signals the possibility of isolated heavy rain, particularly in hilly regions.

As part of precautionary measures, the Meteorological Department has restricted fishermen from venturing into the sea. A warning has also been issued for the safety of coastal residents and fishermen in anticipation of the heavy rains.

The following precautions have been advised for the safety of those living along the coast and the fishing community :

Stay away from danger zones: With the likelihood of rough seas intensifying, fishermen are urged to stay away from danger areas in accordance with instructions from local authorities.

Secure fishing vessels: Fishing vessels should be securely placed in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between boats is crucial to avoiding collisions, and equal attention should be given to ensuring the safety of fishing equipment.

Avoid beach and sea activities: Given the forecast of heavy rain, individuals are strongly advised to refrain from visiting beaches and engaging in any activities at sea.
