The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) will undertake Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) survey for Identification of fishermen houses in the fishing wards of seven coastal talukas of the State namely Canacona, Salcete, Mormugao, Ponda, Tiswadi, Bardez and Pernem. The GCZMA has invited tenders from interested parties having requisite experience in carrying out DGPS survey for taking up the work. The Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) is an enhancement to Global Positioning System (GPS) that provides improved location accuracy, from the 15-metre nominal GPS accuracy to about 10 cm in case of the best implementations. The tenderer/firms will have to identify fishermen houses in 83 wards of Bardez, 12 wards of Ponda, 15 wards of Pernem, 22 wards of Tiswadi, 44 wards of Salcete, 47 wards of Canacona and 34 wards of Mormugao taluka.

The last date for submission of tender forms is October 17 and the tenders will be opened on the same day. In the past, a committee constituted by the State government had submitted a comprehensive draft plan for fishermen community living in CRZ area and had recommended constitution of the Fishery Planning Committee (FPC). The committee had also recommended regularisation of dwelling units of fishermen community located within 200 to 500 metres from HTL provision of Clause 8 III of the CRZ Notification, 2011 and to permit maximum possible extension of their units in accordance to the TCP regulations.

The Committee had also decided to undertake detail survey between 100 to 200 metres from the coast for identification of houses of local coastal communities. Identification of fishermen houses in fishing wards, existing fishing infrastructure need for additional infrastructure location of net mending sheds, sheds canoe etc with the assistance of taluka level committees constituted by this Department.
