The Centre sanctions sufficient funds for the development of fishermen in the state. However, there are allegations that state government officials have not properly utilized these funds.
Hundreds of fishermen are holding a dharna in front of the office of the Kujanga Additional Fisheries Officer (Marine). They allege that even though there is a provision for them to receive nets, boats and engine at subsidized rates, they are deprived of all benefits.
Whereas officials have extended government benefits to those who are not supposed to receive any, real beneficiaries are being deprive of benefits. Government officials receive allurements from non-Bangalis and extend all government facilities to them.
Protesting this, all fishermen of Kujang have held a stir before block office and they said they will never withdraw their stir unless the demands of the protesting fishermen are fulfilled
