The Maldives has exported 58,761 metric tonnes of fish as of September this year. According to the Central Bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the Maldives’ fish exports have increased by 7.8 percent over the same period last year. In this period last year, the Maldives exported 54,528 metric tonnes of fish.

Among the various types of fish exports, Skipjack Tuna was the most prominent, with 41,277 metric tonnes exported. Additionally, 5,716 metric tonnes of yellowfin tuna and 10,087 metric tonnes of canned and poached fish were exported.

  • January – 8,574 metric tons
  • February – 7,149 metric tons
  • March – 11,975 metric tonnes
  • April – 7,383 metric tonnes
  • May – 9,648 metric tonnes
  • June – 6,910 metric tons
  • July – 3,189 metric tons
  • August – 1,848 metric tons
  • September – 2,083 metric tons

According to the MMA, the price of skipjack tuna stood at MVR 27.8 per kg in the international market in September this year.
