Co-organized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), a conference themed “Sustainable Management of Fisheries and Aquaculture” has been held in Baku.
Dignitaries present at the event included officials of the Ministries of Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, the State Water Resources Agency, the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute (AFSI), the Small and Medium Business Development Agency and the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, as well as the representatives of FAO, ADA University and other private sector.
The conference, started with plenary sessions, featured presentations, speeches and panel discussions by local and international experts on various topics.
The purpose of the conference is to bring together stakeholders to assess the development prospects of aquaculture, identify opportunities in this area and its contributions to sustainable development, as well as raise awareness of the importance of sustainable fisheries, and present multilateral solutions and best practices for the sustainable development of the sector.
