The Fisheries Department stated that Myanmar delivered more than 3,470 tonnes of shrimp to international trading partners in the first half of the current financial year 2024-2025, beginning 1 April, with an estimated value of US$12.33 million.

Myanmar’s seaborne shrimp export reached over 2,860 tonnes worth $8.87 million, and the border saw exports of 616.9 tonnes worth $3.47 million between 1 April and 30 September.

Myanmar exports fishery products to 40 international countries, including Japan, Bangladesh, China and Thailand, through maritime and land borders. Myanmar delivered more than 160,000 tonnes of fisheries worth $176.3 million to external markets in the H1 (April-September) this financial year, comprising over 82,000 tonnes worth $110 million through maritime trade and over 78,000 tonnes worth $65 million at borders.
