Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command in Sampoor arrested twenty-three local fishermen in the seas off Sampoor on Sunday, for engaging in illegal fishing using unauthorised nets. The officers also seized 3 fibre glass dinghies, 3 monofilament nets and 2 diving masks. The arrested fishermen and the confiscated items were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector in Muttur, for action, the Navy said.
