There is a need to bring in a uniform fisheries policy for the coastal belt in the country and a meeting of fisheries ministers of coastal States and officials will be held in Bengaluru soon to discuss the matter, Minister of State for Fisheries Pramod Madhwaraj has said. He was speaking at a meeting at Kumta on Sunday. Scarcity of fish would have an adverse effect on the life of fishermen, but a uniform policy would help the community, Mr. Madhwaraj said.
