You can soon dial or send a text a message for supply of seafood from the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation Limited (TNFDC) at your doorstep. Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar told the Assembly that a pilot project to home deliver seafood would be launched shortly. The Department has planned to offer sea food from TNFDC if customers place orders through a phone call or a text message or through the internet. Funds to the tune of Rs. 30 lakh has been earmarked towards the necessary infrastructure of the pilot project. The Department was also planning to open modern fish sales centres in 10 cities across the State to make available quality seafood. These centres, to be set up at a cost of Rs. 1 crore, would be managed by Fisheries Cooperative Societies, he added.
