Fisheries Minister J Mercykutty Amma said the government would ensure the benefits from the Kerala Fishermen Welfare Fund to the eligible fishermen by exempting those ineligible from it. Inaugurating the front office at the district fisheries complex here, she said large number of ineligible members in the fishermen welfare fund board and to ensure the benefits to the eligible fishermen by exempting the ineligible fishermen, the government would organise an ‘adalt’ in this regard. Warning that the department would utilize its extensive network to identify those fishermen who attend the adalat with fake documents, she said the government would take steps to stop the system of fixing a time schedule enrolling their name in the welfare board. The government had issued necessary directions had been issued to accept applications at any time and to enroll their name in the welfare fund in a stipulated time, she added.
