The Indian Coast Guard rescued six fishermen off the Jakhau coast after a Porbandar-based boat capsized there during fishing on Wednesday afternoon. According to Porbandar Macchimar Boat Association president Bharat Modi, the boat was identified as ‘Prem Maiya’ and is owned by Gopal Malam in Porbandar. “We came to know about the accident at around on 12 noon and we had informed the Marine Police and Coast Guard in this regard. All the six fishermen are from south Gujarat and have been rescued,” Modi told TOI. He added that the boat had left Porbandar for fishing five days ago.
