Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister T Srinivas Yadav on Sunday said the State witnessed tremendous rains like never before. He told reporters here that the State government would offer free distribution of fish seeds to village panchayats also. As directed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, it was decided to supply fish seeds to the village panchayats in addition to other municipalities. Most of the lakes, reservoirs and water bodies in the State received abundant water sources, he maintained. As the weather was conducive for fish cultivation, it was decided by the government to encourage fishermen in a big way. There are about 4,500 lakes in the State and will get fish seeds free of cost from Monday. The Minister expressed hope that the Blue Revolution aimed at boosting fish cultivation across the State would reach its target.
