Andaman Science Association (ASA), Port Blair, a scientific professional body established in the year 1984, is conducting International Conference on Climate Change Adaptation and Biodiversity: Ecological Sustainability and Resource Management for Livelihood Security (ASA-ICCB-2016) with four major themes viz., Climate Change and Impact, Adaptive Management of Biodiversity, Adaptation and livelihood security, Island agriculture and Eco-tourism and Indigenous Knowledge for climate change adaptation from 8th to 10th December, 2016 at its Garacharma Research Complex. The International Conference is conducted in association with, I.C.A.R., New Delhi, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata, Society for Plant Research, SVPUAT, Meerut, Society for Community Mobilization for sustainable Development, IARI, New Delhi, Bioversity International for South Asia, New Delhi, Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers Rights Authority, New Delhi, National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai, Department of Science and Technology, A & N Administration, Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding, New Delhi, Indian Ecological Society, Ludhiana, Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata and SERB,GOI, New Delhi. Andaman & Nicobar Administration is supporting the conduct of the Conference which will benefit the Island stakeholders and also put the Island in the global map. Prof. Ramesh Chand, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, Government of India, New Delhi will be Chief guest and inaugurate the seminar on 8th December, 2016 at 9.30 A.M. at the auditorium of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology( DBRAIT), Port Blair. Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG, (Agri. Extension & Horticultural Science), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. R.R. Hanchinal, Chairperson, PPV & FRA, New Delhi and Shri Anindo Majumdar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration will be the Guests of Honour and Dr. S. Dam Roy, President, ASA and Director, ICAR-CIARI will preside over the function. Special session will be held on Policy makers and farmers interaction meet on 7th December, 2016 at Dr. T.R. Dutta Conference Hall of ICAR-CIARI from 10.00 am to 01.00 pm which will be chaired by Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG, (Agri. Extension & Horticultural Science), ICAR, New Delhi. Representative of farmers from Mainland and Island representing all the three districts will be participating in the programme. Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, ICAR-CIARI will preside over the programme. Around 250 delegates from reputed National and International organizations and other stakeholders will be participating in the ASA-ICCB-2016 from 8th to 10th December, 2016.
