To attract youngsters to aqua-farming practices, the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) will promote start-ups in aquaculture.CMFRI’s capacity enhancement training will provide technical support to budding entrepreneurs. The Ernakulam Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of the CMFRI is conducting a month-long course, Aquaculture Technician’, to develop skills in various aspects of aqua-farming to a set of 20 youngsters. Part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, the training will cover cage fish farming, fresh and brackish water farming, and rearing of mussel, shrimp, crab, lobster and oyster.The training will give a big boost to fish and shrimp farming. The technical course will empower youngsters become entrepreneurs in aquaculture, said A Gopalakrishnan, CMFRI Director.
