“Fish waste is causing health hazards The Marumalarchi Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (MTMMK) has appealed to the Corporation to remove the fish market on Valluvar Street in Melapalayam as the fish waste generated in the market was reportedly causing health hazards. The cadre submitted a petition in this regard to V. Narayanan Nair, City Engineer, Tirunelveli Corporation, on Tuesday. Besides affecting the free flow of vehicular traffic, the fish market, established on a narrow lane, has become an obstacle to those who come to the nearby mosque, they alleged. “Since the fish waste being generated is being disposed off in an unscientific manner it causes health issues to the public apart from affecting the free flow of traffic. Hence, the fish market should be removed, A. R. Badhusha, area secretary of MTMMK said.
