District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed ordered the officials of Fisheries Department to take necessary steps for producing about six crores of fish seeds by the end of September for the year 2017-18 as per the target set by the State government. He inspected fish seed production center here on the premises of Lower Manair Dam (LMD) on Tuesday and enquired about the details of fish seeds that were produced in the center till date. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed said that with the initiation taken by Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, Modernised Fish Seed Production Centre was constructed at a cost of Rs 45 crores on LMD premises. This year different varieties of fish seeds such as boche, rahu and meruga will be produced in the newly constructed fish seed production center, using modern and scientific methods, informed the Collector. About one crore fish seed were produced till date, out of which 39 lakhs were released in LMD, 21 lakhs were transported to Nizamabad district, 30 lakhs to Mahabubnagar district and the remaining 10 lakhs were handed over to District Fisheries Cooperative Society of Karimnagar. District Industrial Development Society president Lola Lakshman and District Officer of the Fisheries department were present along with others.
