Marketing professional Nisha Panchal, who secured second prize for ‘Fisher women’, was deeply concerned by how men who were into fishing were called ‘fishermen’, while there was no similar term for women. She said, “I made this documentary a year back as part of my college project. And through this, we met the fisher women of Somnath and knew their contribution to the fishing industry. This was a small attempt in giving them a voice. Namrata Bali, chairman, Video SEWA, “This is not just a film festival, it is something beyond it. We aim to create awareness and give a platform to grassroots issues concerning women. Video is a powerful medium through which you can reach a larger audience. The work has just begun.
