At least 30 Gujarat fishermen along with their five boats were abducted by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) from near International Maritime Boarder Line (IMBL) off Jakhau coast in Kutch late on Tuesday late evening. According to president of Porbandar Fishermens’ Association Bharat Modi, they have received information about fishermen being apprehended by PMSA from their counterpart in Karachi, Pakistan. “They have abducted 30 fishermen and seized five of their boats. Out of the boats seized, two are from Okha, while one each is from Porbandar, Jakhau and Beyt Dwarka. The fishermen on board were from different parts of Gujarat,” Modi said, adding that there was a possibility that the number of fishermen abducted could go up as some are still at sea. “Their news will be confirmed after they reach Karachi,” Modi said. Since the beginning of 2017 498 fishermen with over 70 boats have been apprehended by Pakistan agency from near IMBL. Modi said that last month Pakistan government had released 68 Indian fishermen. “With Tuesday’s addition, the total number of Indian fishermen in Pakistan jail will now be 460,” he added.
