Andhra Pradesh Fishing and Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy said that the government was taking steps to encourage the ornamental fish culture and breeding as it would provide employment to the unemployed youth.Talking to mediapersons at media point at Assembly on Tuesday, the government would encourage women groups and enthusiastic unemployed youths to take up breeding of ornamental fish as the marking is growing substantially. Releasing a brochure, brought out by the fisheries department, on the ornamental fish breeding, he said that the ornamental fish trade doing one million dollars business worldwide. There is heavy demand for ornamental fishes in Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. The market for the ornamental fish in India also is growing rapidly, he said, adding that at present the ornamental fish breeding and culture is limited to Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. The Minister reminded that Andhra Pradesh had stood first in the country in the export of aqua products. Fisheries department commission Rama Shanker Naik, Additional Director K Sitaramaraju and Deputy Secretary Narasimha Rao were present.
