Maldivian fishermen have stopped four foreign vessels fishing in Maldivian territorial waters off the coast of G. A. Kolamaafushi, reports Maldives National Defense Force. Captain of one of the Maldivian fishing boats reported to Sun that Maldivian fishermen sighted multiple foreign fishing boats off the coast of Kolamaafushi this Saturday. He said the sighting has been reported to the authorities. And that Maldivian fishermen were trailing the foreign fishing boats. MNDF reported the foreign fishing boats have been stopped by Maldivian fishermen. And that Coastguard’s Faamuladheyri has been deployed to the area. MNDF has not yet commented on whether the foreign fishing boats were in Maldivian territorial waters legally, or illegally.
