Indonesian President Joko Widodo met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office on Sunday morning. Bangladesh and Indonesia have signed five instruments to boost cooperation in different sectors between the two countries, including trade, diplomacy, fishing and energy. The deals were inked in the presence of visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after the official talks between the two countries at the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday morning. Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Indonesian Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lusitania signed the joint ministerial statement on the launch of the negotiation for Bangladesh-Indonesia preferential trade agreement. The MoU on Establishment Foreign Office Consultations was inked by Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi. Bangladesh Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi penned the joint communique on cooperation to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and to promote sustainable fisheries governance. The MoU on development of the integrated gas infrastructure and independent power producer was signed by Bangladesh Power Development Board Chairman Khaled Mahmud and vice-president of Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation Pertamina, Ginandjar Sofyan. Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) Secretary Syed Ashfaquzzaman and Pertamina Vice-President Wiko Migantoro inked the MoU on letter of intent between Petrobangla and Pertamina on government-to-government sales and purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
