Sri Lankan maritime forces allegedly attacked several Indian fishing trawlers and chased away fishermen at gun point near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) bordering the controversial Katchatheevu Islet on Tuesday. The fishermen told newsmen after returning to Rameswaram fishing jetty that the Sri Lankan Naval patrol crafts encircled several fishing trawlers and pelted stones and soda bottles. They also warned us to leave the zone immediately at gun point, they said. Though no one was injured in the attack, the fishermen suffered huge loss, as the Lankan naval men reportedly destroyed fishing nets of several boats.
