The Meteorology Department of Sri Lanka today requested the fishermen and the naval personnel to refrain from their activities in the seas off the country’s southern and eastern coasts.
The Meteorology Department issuing a warning said showers or thundershowers accompanied by strong winds at times will continue in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Batticaloa to Galle via Hambantota and these sea areas will be rough.
The Department warned the Naval and fishing communities not to go into the sea area off the coast from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
According to the Met Department, the low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal to the South East of Sri-Lanka still persists about 450 km from Potuvil today (05) and under its influence, showery and windy weather will continue further over the island.
