The fisheries department states that they are waiting for a response from the Indian government to carry forward the Indo Sri lanka fisheries discussions.
Director General of the department Nimal Hettiarachchi stated that India has been notified regarding appointing a committee comprising members from both countries to facilitate the discussions.
The Fisheries Ministry states that the discussions failed as a result of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jayaram’s actions.
