The Yemeni Embassy in Asmara announced on Wednesday that Eritrea released 154 Yemeni fishermen who had have been held by the authorities there.

“The released fishermen are currently on their way to Yemen”, Yemen’s Charge d’affaires in Asmara, Mohammed al-Azzani said to Saba.

Al-Azzani pointed out that during the past three months (February, March and April) the Eritrean authorities released about 301 Yemeni fishermen.

The Foreign Ministry and Yemen mission in Asmara are continuing their efforts to release the rest of the detained Yemeni fishermen in Eritrea, al-Azzani added.

In late January of this year, 132 of Yemeni fishermen, who has been detained by Eritrean authorities, were released.

About 1673 Yemeni fishermen held in Eritrea were released during last year.
