Sri Lanka Naval personnel on Saturday arrested 20 Indian fishermen along with their four fishing trawlers when they were engaged in poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

Sri Lankan Navy personnel in a naval craft attached to the North Central Naval Command on routine patrol arrested the 20 Indian fishermen well within Sri Lankan waters North of Mannar on 05th July 2014, the Navy said.

The arrested fishermen and the trawlers were handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Mannar for legal action

. Despite the arrests by the Sri Lankan Navy, the Tamil Nadu fishermen continue to invade the Sri Lankan waters robbing the livelihood of the Sri Lankan fishermen.
