No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-7.1 earthquake that struck early Monday off the coast of Chiapas, Mexico.

The earthquake was recorded at 1:24 a.m. Hawaii time, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu.

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat of tsunami to Hawaii, according to the center.
