The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum took out a rally and held protest demonstration on Saturday outside the Karachi Press Club demanding to release fishermen jailed in the prisons of India and Pakistan.

The protestors were carrying placards, banners and raised the slogans for release of their fishermen.

The fishermen from coastal areas of Kharo Chan, Ketti Bundar, Badin Zero Point and other areas participated in the rally. Addressing the protestors, Chairman PFF Mohammad Ali Shah said demanded to release the fishermen arrested by India and Pakistan. He said both the countries had never tried to discuss the issues of fishermen relating to their coastal areas.

He said more than 265 Pakistani fishermen were detained in Indian jails. He claimed that 485 Indian fishermen were detained in Pakistani jails.

Shah said both the countries should bring this issue to priority list to find the permanent solution to the issues of fishermen’s arrest. Other leaders said the arrested fishermen of both countries were languishing in jails while their families were facing hunger and misery.
