Fishing operators have urged the government to ease measures aimed at curbing illegal fishing, the Bangkok Post reported, quoting Mongkol Sukcharoenkana, vice-president of the National Fisheries Association of Thailand.

Operators from all the 22 coastal provinces said more than 3,000 middle-sized boats would have to stop fishing from July 1, causing 15 billion baht ($445.24 million) in monthly losses, unless the government relaxed the rules, it reported.
