Vice Admiral Anurag Thapliyal, director general of the Indian Coast Guard said Strong bilateral talks between fishermen of India and Sri Lanka will be helpful to resolve the ongoing issue and the resolutions should be acceptable to both the parties.
Talking to reporters after the event, Thapliyal said various agencies including the external affairs ministry are working out to find a solution to end this issue between Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen.
But there should also be bilateral talks between fishermen from both countries to arrive at an amicable solution.
He opined that the resolutions derived from these bilateral talks should also be acceptable to the fishermen.
On the part of the Indian Coast Guard, the fishermen are warned not to cross international maritime boundary line while fishing.
