The Blue Revolution in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is all set to become a reality. Two deep sea fishing harbors are going to be developed very soon by Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). According to sources, the Union Ministry of Agriculture has recently deputed two engineers from Central Institute for Coastal Engineering and Fisheries, Banglore for identifying suitable sites for these specialized exclusive harbors. One of the selected sites is at Junglighat. After Developing this area as deep sea fishing harbor it would accommodate 30 to 40 meters long fishing vessels. Another recommended site is at Rajender Nagar in Great Nicobar Islands. When these two deep sea fishing harbors are completed. The economy of these islands is bound to get a big boost once the two deep sea fishing harbors become functional. The foreign exchange earning Tuna Fish catch are going to be enhanced manifold in all three districts of A& N Islands. Unemployed educated youths from this union territory may hope to get sufficient employment opportunities through this new project.
