Eighteen fishermen who have been kidnapped allegedly by their Tamil Nadu counterparts while fishing in the sea have been rescued, and they are expected to reach their homes in Anjaneyapuram of Vidavaluru mandal in a day or two. The fishermen reportedly had a conflict with those from the neighbouring State, which eventually led to their kidnapping on Monday night. Following a representation by the villagers, fisheries Joint Director K. Sitarama Raju and the local police made efforts for their rescue. The fishermen were found to have been outnumbered by the T.N. fishermen, who reportedly made a surprise raid at night. A fibre boat was stated to have been damaged during the conflict.
