A day-long awareness camp on Paddy cum Fish farming was organised by Fisheries Department in collaboration with PRI members at Bogdo, Dego and Panya villages on Monday. Commissioner Fisheries, Huzar Lollen, DFDO, Kenbom Chisi, ASM, Remi Lollen and PRI members of Bogdo, Panya and Dego village, farmers and fisheries staff of DFDO office Aalo attended the camp. Interacting with fish farmers and PRI members, Commissioner Lollen informed about the programmes and policies of the fisheries department and encouraged unemployed youth and farmers to take fisheries activities in the village for self employment. He discouraged the use of pesticides and weedicides and encouraged for eco-friendly method with paddy cum fish farming. The Commissioner is on a four days extensive tour to the district to know the first hand knowledge of various subsidy schemes being implemented by the fisheries department of the district. He visited Kombo Tarsu, Darka etc and inspected all the facilities of fisheries department. Speaking on the occasion, DFDO, Kenbom Chisi stressed on the importance of paddy cum fish farming and request all PRI members to cooperate with fisheries department of the district for successful implementation any govt. aided programmes. He also appealed all PRI members to select a genuine beneficiary for implementation of any subsidy scheme. ASM, Remi Lollen informed that many farmers are unable to take up fish farming in the village due to un-availability of fish seeds.
