The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has announced a 58-day ban on fishing in Bangladesh’s maritime waters from 15 April to 11 June.

The measure aims to ensure proper fish reproduction, conserve marine resources, and promote sustainable fishing practices. The ban applies to all types of fishing vessels.

The announcement was made through an official notification signed by HM Khalid Iftekhar, deputy secretary of the ministry, under the authority of the president.

According to the notification, the ban is in accordance with the Marine Fisheries Rules, 2023, which empowers the government to restrict fishing activities during the breeding season.
