Commissioner Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh has put a ban on the fish market at Sherpur, which is being run in an illegal manner. Aulakh said since the fish market at Sherpur was being run in an illegal manner by one Ram Prashad, the sale-purchase of fish would be banned here with immediate effect. The orders regarding this were issued by the Commissioner of Police today. Aulakh said there was designated wholesale fish market on Tajpur Road. With the help of the police and Tajpur mandi fish market officials, efforts are being made not to sell fish in this unauthorised market at Sherpur by diverting trucks of fish towards Tajpur Road, due to which those running the illegal market incurred losses. Because of monetary losses, these persons with vested interests even manhandled the staff of the Tajpur market committee. Keeping everything in mind, sale/purchase in the particular market is totally banned, said the Commissioner. Apart from that, the Commissioner also banned the sale of Magur fish. Aulakh said, The Magur fish caused serious health issues and its sale will be banned in the city. The ones found selling the banned variety of fish in markets will be severely punished.
