The long-awaited dredging work on the Titas River in Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria, was inaugurated on Saturday morning. According to Babul Chandra Shil, chief engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board in Comilla Zone, the combined expenditure for the dredging of the 90km-long river and its tributaries will amount to an estimated Tk119 crore. “Dockyard & Engineering Works Limited, under the Bangladesh Navy, was awarded the contract for the dredging work. The project is being implemented by the Bangladesh Water Development Board he said. He added that the river dredging work is scheduled to be completed by June 2020.
