Elizabeth Harvey, the woman who fought the Canada Revenue Agency over unfair taxation of fishermen, has died.

A family member confirmed the 55-year-old Isle aux Morts woman passed away on Saturday.
As the wife of a fisherman, Harvey learned that a group of fishers who took licence buyouts in 1999 had to pay capital gains tax on that money. Fishers who took buyouts in other years paid no such tax.
For years, Harvey raised the matter in the media and on open line call-in shows, looking for justice. She spearheaded the campaign and made countless calls to over 1,000 fishermen, collecting information and keeping them in the loop.
In 2011, a federal judge ruled in favor of the fishermen and they received settlements.
While the tax case was her most famous battle, Harvey was a champion of many causes, including getting a dialysis unit in Port aux Basques.
In 2012 she received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of her work.
Elizabeth Harvey is resting at Holy Spirit church in Isle aux Morts. Her funeral will be Thursday 2 p.m.
