A Pakistani fisherman has been arrested by the Indian Navy from within the vicinity of Harami Nala, located in the Sir Creek region, as claimed by the fishing community. Family and fishermen community have expressed grave concern over the detention of a young fisherman and detention by the Indian Navy while he was fishing in Pakistani waters.

The Chairman of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF), Mehran Ali Shah, verified that the detained fisherman, Mehboob Mallah, was indeed fishing within Pakistani waters when the Indian Navy apprehended him. Shah emphasised that this detention is illegal and constitutes a breach of international law.

Mehboob Mallah hails from Tayyab Mallah village in the Badin district. Shah pointed out that Article 73 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) pertains to the treatment of foreign vessels.
