The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has published Fisheries and Aquaculture Technical Paper #677 La situación y tendencia de las pesquerías continentales de América Latina y el Caribe.
The document provides a comprehensive update of the situation and the tendencies of inland fisheries in the Latin American and Caribbean region, its contribution to food security and the threats to these fisheries. The countries with significant inland fisheries were examined by national experts, while information from other countries and territories were evaluated through a literature review. The final chapter provides a meta-analysis of the data presented and discusses trends on a subregional basis.
