Global warming will drastically affect marine fisheries and ecosystem, the regional workshop on fisheries management here has concluded.
According to K. Vijayakumaran, scientist at India’s Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), the global average air temperature rose 0.74 degrees C during the 100-year period ending 2005.
If the trend continues, the atmospheric temperature will increase by 2.2 degrees C to 4.8 degrees C by 2100, causing unimaginable changes in the ecosystem, he said.
