A state-level steering committee (SLSC) will be constituted for the implementation and monitoring of Blue Revolution schemes, following a new notification issued by the state government. The steering committee will attend the policy issues enabling environment for the growth of the fisheries sector in the state and will be constituted under the chairmanship of the chief secretary. The Union ministry of agriculture, department of animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries had recently initiated Blue Revolution: Integrated management and development of fisheries. A total of 13 schemes have been listed under the Blue revolution initiative in the state. The new notification has come into force to ensure that schemes that fall under this are implemented. The SLSC will discuss the status of fisheries development in the state for realizing the goals of Blue Revolution. They will also review policy issues related to fisheries development in the state. The committee will review convergence of funds from other schemes, funds transfer to districts and progress of the implementation of Blue Revolution projects. The SLSC will comprise secretary, fisheries of state; secretary of finance; joint secretary, finance; and the director of fisheries.
