A Kuils River fish shop owner says Thursday is his busiest
day of the year as customers are clamouring to buy fish for Good Friday.
Many people are sitting down and eating parcels of stock fish and chips
before heading off to do their Easter shopping.
The owner of Da Gama Fisheries said he expects to sell more than a ton
of fish today alone.
More people are looking to buy snoek, but hake or stock fish are also
popular.
A snoek costs between R40 and R70, while yellow tail sells for R36 per
kilogram.
At least R1,000 customers will be fasting through Da Gama’s door today.
