A mobile app titled ‘Report Fish Disease’ has been introduced to help aquaculture farmers to report diseases on their farms.

The app has been developed by Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT), National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NGFGR) and other agencies as part of National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD) project under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.

Available for download on Google Play, farmers can report disease outbreaks by providing essential information such as location, species affected, symptoms observed, and images. The data is crucial for rapid response and accurate diagnosis.

Geo-tagging technology helps identify a farm’s location, facilitates swift response from authorities and receivers get real-time updates on the status of their reported cases, ensuring transparency and accountability in the disease management process.
