The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET) Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt. of India located at Kochi, Chennai, and Visakhapatnam, offers career training to the selected candidates on Vessel Navigator (VNC) and Marine Fitter (MFC) for the academic session 2025–2027 batch.

These two-year (24 months) duration training programs are conducted under the Craftsman Training Scheme of the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), introduced by the Directorate General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour, Government of India. The courses are open to candidates who have passed 10th standard (SSLC) with 40% marks in Mathematics and Science separately. A monthly stipend of Rs. 1,500/- will be provided to all selected trainees and on completion of VNC/MFC, post-institutional training will also be offered based on the merit rank with stipend of Rs.20,500/pm and one-time uniform allowance with the bond duly signed by Applicant/Parent.

As per the reservation policy, 24 seats (12 each for VNC and MFC) are reserved for wards of fishermen, nominated through the Commissioner/Director of Fisheries of respective States. These seats will be filled without an entrance examination.
