An inception workshop on the assessment of food loss from selected gillnet and trammel net fisheries of India was held at the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology. The workshop was supported by the Food and Agriculture Organisation. The Integrated Coastal Management, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, is also collaborating in the project. Shyam Bahadur Khadka, FAO representative of India, inaugurated the programme. Yugraj Singh Yadava, director, Bay of Bengal Programme–Inter Governmental Organisation, was the guest of honour. C.N. Ravishankar, director, CIFT, presided. Leela Edwin, head, Fishing Technology Division welcomed the gathering and Saly N. Thomas, principal investigator of the project, proposed a vote of thanks.
