Union Minister for Fisheries Parshottam Rupala said that fisherwomen are given 60 percent subsidy under Prime Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana. Addressing a meeting with fishermen at Nagapattinam during the Sagar Parikrama today, the Minister said that it was under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that implemented inclusive development schemes for all sectors. He said that Kisan Credit cards are being issued to those involved in the fishing sector also. Union Minister of State Dr.L. Murugan said that the Prime Minister had allocated 38 thousand 500 Crore rupees for the development of the Blue economy in the Country. The Ministers interacted with the local fishermen and listened to their issues.
The ninth phase of the Sagar Parikrama is being held for three days. It began at Thondi Harbour at Ramanathapuram this morning.
