Union Secretary for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Devendra Chaudhry has urged NABARD to study the stocking of fish seedlings in small reservoirs across the country for cataloguing policy plans for various States. He also instructed the bank to hold business meet of reservoir farmers, besides providing infrastructure support to them. Mr. Chaudhry was inaugurating a two-day national consultation meet for fisheries development policy organised by NABARD in the city. The meet is expected to suggest a policy framework and growth strategy for the integrated development of the sector. Presenting a blue revolution schemeto professionalise the sector, Mr. Chaudhry said the Centre aimed to enhance productivity in the sector, infrastructure augmentation, modernisation, and welfare through the scheme. NABARD Deputy Managing Director R. Amalorpavanathan said the sector had a huge potential for growth.
