Union Minister for Fisheries Parshottam Rupala has said that the Government is taking efforts to make it a prime sector in the Country. In his concluding remarks, the Minister told that there was a need to regularise and develop fish farming be it coastal or non coastal areas for the sake of developing economy. He said that the farmer meet has given the opportunity to share expertise within the states.
The Minister told that a three Member committee consisting of the fishing ministers of Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Andhrapradesh will be constituted to suggest measures to improve the sector and also frame policies of the Government.
The Minister informed that marketing, research, innovation, introduction of technology and development of infrastructure for fishing is vital. In his conclusion Union Minister of State for Fisheries Dr L.Murugan said that the Government has set a target of reaching one lakh crore exports. Presently the export is Rs 64 thousand crores. He appreciated the State Ministers for sharing the platform to explain the present status prevailing in their states.
